Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Los Angeles, California - Media expert and author Michael Levine has formed a charitable organization to spotlight and encourage the concept of self-education. Called The Levine Medal for Self-Education (LMSE), the charity, in the tradition of the world famous Nobel Prize, will give an annual medal to a person living or dead who inspires and encourages self-education throughout the world.
Noting that even at the beginning of the 21st century, less than 35% of Americans graduate a four year college, the purpose of the charity is to inspire and motivate people in the direction of self-education.
As a self-education man, Michael Levine, who only attended six (6) months of college, rose to the highest levels of the very competitive world of the entertainment business and became the author of 16 books.
"Mark Twain said it best, when he said 'I never let school interfere with my education”, noted Levine. "My life is totally a gift of self-education".
Levine believes that self-education is critically important because, "with motivation, self-education is not only possible but many world class educators believe preferable."
Examples of self-educational people throughout history include:
Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Frank Lloyd Wright, Woody Allen, Maya Angelou, James Cameron, Agatha Christie, Walter Cronkite, Walt Disney, Bill Gates, Peter Jennings, Robert Hughes, and Steven Spielberg.
The "1st Annual Levine Medal for Self-Education" will be announced on April 17, 2008.
